The Lead Consultant is a member of the executive team of the OPEN MINDS organization and is a principle in the company’s consulting practice management group. Lead Consultants in the OPEN MINDS practice are responsible for both the success management of client engagements and for increasing the business with the client. The role is equal parts client engagement management and revenue generation/business development.


The Lead Consultant is the captain of each client’s consulting team, responsible for guiding the project towards success while managing both the client and the consultant team. The executive is responsible for client management, team leadership (and development), and project management: overseeing the project budget, timeline, and deliverables. Responsibilities include project planning, client communication, and team coordination. They analyze proposed client solutions and manage resources to meet deadlines and budgets. Leadership in problem-solving, risk management, and quality assurance is crucial. Additionally, they foster collaboration, mentor team members, and stay updated on industry trends to provide innovative solutions. Ultimately, a lead consultant drives project success through effective management and expertise.


The Lead Consultant is also responsible for the revenue from the client in their book of business. They identify new client needs, defining the scope, objectives, and deliverables of the new projects – and develop and present proposals to the client.


Lead consultants must possess a combination of technical, business, and interpersonal skills to be successful in their role. They need an in-depth knowledge of the field and its best practices. They should also possess high-level analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills as well as excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Furthermore, they must be able to work collaboratively with diverse teams and clients while also being willing to travel and adapt to different environments and cultures.


The Lead Consultants’ measures of success include:

  • Meeting client strategic and business objectives
  • On time, on budget delivery of client deliverables for each engagement
  • Client account renewal
  • Client account revenue growth

This is a full-time position based in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. This position is eligible for all standard benefits including PTO, insurance (medical, dental, and vision), and 401(K). A hybrid or remote role will be considered for the right candidate.

Requirements:
  • Management expertise (marketing, strategic planning, finance, operations, statistical analysis, human resource management, public program management, information technology, etc.) and/or experience in management in health and human services fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex business problems, consistent with a deep understanding of the strategic direction of the business
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels of the organization and clearly and concisely expresses opinions, conclusions and recommendations
  • Strong knowledge of the health and human services industry.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a number of computer applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, E-mail, communications software, and databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to quickly build rapport with clients across any communication channel, including but not limited to phone, email, video conference, or in person.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to communicate verbally and in writing the status of client projects, as well as the ability to make presentations, in person and virtually.
  • Strong level of attention to detail in the accuracy, grammar, formatting, and other elements of successful client deliverables and client presentations.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and manage a track one’s time and others time using spreadsheets.
  • Ability to travel overnight, unattended throughout the continental United States.
  • Visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
  • Ability to drive an automobile and must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time, as well as bending and lifting from a sitting or standing position.
  • Ability to use a personal credit card for occasional purchases on behalf of the organization.
