Ability KC Medical Rehab facility seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for Adaptive Computer and Communication Technology (ACCT) department. The position is Full Time.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Seeking a full time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our experienced assistive technology team and provide AAC evaluations and training to adults and children. This position is a critical team member to integrate AAC within our established adult neuro-rehab programs of Ability KC, and our outside referral partners. Professional growth, flexibility and creativity in program development is supported in this opportunity to work with a variety of individuals and their families. Experience with AAC required; broad understanding and clinical reasoning in neuro rehabilitation desired, with strong organizational and communication skills. MO and KS license required and possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.

EDUCATION:

Master’s degree Speech/Language Pathology from an accredited school required.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of successful completion of clinical internships and eligibility for Clinical Fellowship is required. Prior one year hospital/health related or assistive technology experience is preferred.

License/Certification:

Missouri State license and possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Must possess knowledge of the principles, practice of Speech-Language Pathology and the ability to apply them in therapeutic treatment programs.
  • Ability to create clear and concise written and oral reports.
  • Understand and abide by the established code of ethics for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Ability to maintain patient and facility confidentiality.
  • Specialized training in augmentative and alternative communication if providing services to individuals in the Adaptive Computer and Communication Technology Program.
  • Ongoing education in the area of assistive technology as it relates to augmentative communication, learning tools and computer access.
  • Ability to educate internal stakeholders in assistive technology through conference exhibits, presentations and in-services.

ROUTINE CONTACTS:

Routine contacts include facility staff, physicians, patients, case managers, students, visitors, physician office staff, patient’s family members/support system, insurance companies, employers, community organizations, and equipment/supply vendors.

This position shall have access only to patient or client Protected Health Information on a need-to-know basis (only that Protected Health Information that is required to perform the job duties described in this job description).
