Reports to: Manager of Children and Youth Programs

Position Summary
Our mission is to engage children and youth by supporting them through social-emotional development, navigation of the education system, career preparedness, creating a safe environment, and providing services that are individualized and culturally competent to build brighter futures. The Summer Program Coordinator organizes and coordinates summer programming and works closely with the College and Career Readiness Coordinator and reports directly to the Manager of Children and Youth Programs.

Essential Functions

  • Creates a safe, inclusive and friendly learning environment for students, parents, volunteers and staff.
  • Engages parents and addresses concerns with them with courtesy and patience.
  • Develops, prepares, conducts and evaluates summer programming in collaboration with the Manager of the Children and Youth Program by providing and planning instructional and enrichment resources/material to support part-time staff.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, program evaluations, and any additional reports and submit in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with College and Career Readiness Coordinator to support summer programs.
  • Order supplies and equipment when necessary and within budgeting requirements.
  • Train and oversee volunteers to assist with scheduled activities and programming.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and social media platforms
  • Coordinate with and oversee staff, volunteers and students effectively
  • Ability to relate to young people and keep a professional distance is a must
  • A self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Possess ability to work in a team in various environments with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable assisting people of diverse economic, social and ethnic backgrounds
  • Must have a driver’s license; ability to drive a 15-passenger van (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS); at least three years of experience and/or training that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Willing to consider non-degreed applicant with 3-5 years of experience.
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)

Note

Must be available to work on-site on Monday – Friday, 8a – 4p. This is a seasonal, full-time position.
