Temporary Grounds Worker (Streets & Stormwater)

 

Summary

This is outside heavy manual labor involving semi-skilled work in various maintenance and construction tasks requiring the use of hand tools and equipment. Work is performed under the supervision of a Crew Leader or Supervisor, and reviewed through reports, observations, and obtained results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

•    Assumes responsibility for all aspects of grounds maintenance, including mowing, edging, weed-eating, raking, weeding plant beds, pruning shrubs and small trees, grass removal, planting, watering, and sodding.

•    Inspects and maintains through maintenance activities street and stormwater facilities, ditches, and drainage swales throughout the City and reports needed maintenance and repairs to supervisor.

•    Operates small power tools to maintain highways, City right-of-ways, or recreation areas.

•    Operates small equipment, portable mixers, and other equipment as directed.

•    Follows standard safety precautions in the operation of equipment, performs minor maintenance and routine housekeeping on assigned equipment.

•    Possibility of attending mandatory training to ensure compliance of all rules and proper equipment operation.

•    Performs related work as required.

WORK SCHEDULE

      Days: Monday through Friday

     Hours: 6:30am – 3:00pm

     Lunch/Breaks: 30 minute lunch- two paid 15 minute breaks; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

     Holidays: They are off when City of Largo Streets and Stormwater Divisional employees are off.

    Reports daily to the Open Conveyance Supervisor or an available Supervisor in the absence of the Open Conveyance Supervisor for daily assignment or instructions.

   

*All field staff/full-time/temporary are required to wear steel toe or composite toe boots during working hours.
