Job Title - ACH/Share Draft Specialist
Location - Dover, DE
Pay Rate - $20.95 per Hour
Temporary Assignment


General Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to perform clerical duties for processing automated clearing house (ACHs) and Share Drafts including daily balancing of applicable general ledger accounts in a timely and accurate manner.  

Essential Functions

      ACH Processing

  • Process, correct, and balance daily postings of ACH debits, credits, and exception items, as well as, associated non-sufficient fund (NSF) fees   
  • Assist with ACH stop payments and allocations as needed
  • Verify and process ACH affidavits, death notifications, and resolve any discrepancies
  • Research and process all ACH Reclamations
  • Ensure all International ACH transactions (IAT) are systematically verified through the Office of Foreign Affairs (OFAC) software
  • Make general ledger entries for all ACH non-member related transactions  
  • Coordinate member payroll deductions for manual payrolls including member information, corrections, updates, and changes
  • Review and process all ACH disputes
  • Understand and adhere to NACHA rules and guidelines
  • Review and report on all ACH rule changes to Management
  • Participate in various ACH education sessions annually


Share Draft Processing

  • Process, correct, and balance daily postings of share drafts including exceptions and NSFs  
  • Process adjustments and perform research for other institutions
  • Review and process incoming IRD files via Fedline   
  • Review and process all Check related disputes  
  • Maintain and update all applicable archived records


       Other Duties

  • Assist in solving internal and external member issues or questions in relation to ACH, share drafts, fees, and other related topics

·         Identify inefficient and outdated processes; recommend improvements   

·         Coordinate process improvements with other departments to enhance efficiencies within the organization   

·         Create and maintain working procedures for the functions of this position

·         Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

Job Specifications

  • Requires education equivalent to a four-year high school education   
  • Additional post-secondary coursework in accounting is preferred but not required
  • A minimum of 2 years of ACH and share draft experience in a financial institution required   
  • Knowledge of all applicable Federal Reserve Regulations
  • Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) required
  • National Check Professional (NCP) preferred
  • Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for projecting a positive image as a representative of the Credit Union
  • Requires judgment to solve day-to-day problems within regulations and established guidelines
  • Proficient in use of a personal computer, calculator, data entry and Microsoft Office Products   
  • Organization and time management skills necessary to comply with mandated deadlines
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work mandated schedules
