Job Type: Full-Time
Job Pay: $25-$34 hour
Job Shift: 1st Shift (6:25am – 2:30pm)
Position Summary
The role of this position is to provide exceptional technical support and problem-solving skills to manufacturing business units and their staff.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Essential Function satisfactorily. The items listed below are representative of these essential functions for this role and may not be a comprehensive list of duties, responsibilities, or expectations.
1. Prepare and write CNC programs and modify existing ones for increased efficiency.
2. Utilize drawings or CAD models to support program development.
3. Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
4. Programs lathes and mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, and compensation; calculating programs using necessary geometry and trigonometry skills.
5. Maintains quality of tooling produced by observing and measuring all cutting actions.
6. Replace and maintain all cutting tools as needed.
7. Make all adjustments to programs and tooling as needed.
8. Assists in the development of new processes, tooling, as well as makes recommendations for process improvements.
9. Provides guidance to Setup and Engineering Technicians to troubleshoot current processes and equipment in their respective department.
10. Provides guidance to Engineering Technicians in programming of equipment and processes.
11. Able to consult with machine and equipment representatives on technical aspects to troubleshoot issues over the phone.
12. Responsible for identifying training needs within their respective department. Works with Operations and Engineering Technicians to develop training for all manufacturing personnel to continually develop a knowledgeable and competent team that meets or exceeds quality and productivity standards which may include creation of training materials.
13. Provides backup leadership support in the absence of the engineering staff.
14. Works with engineering to help in estimating manufacturing costs and production rates for new products.
15. Manages the process of perishable tooling selection for production (new and current production) that meets or exceeds budgetary needs.
16. Responsible for fixture and tooling design for new and current production.
17. Assists with runoffs of new parts/machines.
18. Identify and develop continuous improvement projects related to their respective department.
19. Assists in providing feedback to Process Engineering Leader and Operations in regard to performance reviews.
20. As needed, may involve running daily equipment to assist in meeting production goals.
21. Must have the ability to work a flexible work schedule (i.e. off-shifts and weekends) as needed.
22. Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
23. Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values in which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
24. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Education, Certifications, and Experience
- · Preferred High School Diploma, or GED.
- · Preferred Associates Degree.
- · Preferred 10 Years of Manufacturing Experience.
- · Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
- · Ability to do machine setups, program in G&M code, and troubleshooting without direct supervision.
- · Ability to read blueprints and decipher GD&T specifications.
- · Proficient at reading and utilizing inspection instruments (Micrometers, etc.).
- · Proficiency in CAM software and SolidWorks.
