THE SCHOOL
North Broward Preparatory School, a member of the Nord Anglia family of schools, is an Apple Distinguished School with a vibrant STEAM program. We are currently seeking an individual to join their team. The ideal candidate must be organized, responsible, committed and flexible with great communication skills. Must be able to manage time wisely and transition into a fast-paced environment.
The Dorm Parents are to ensure that all residential students are safe, nurtured and thriving while attending North Broward Preparatory School.
Residential Dorm Parents work a minimum of 45.5 hours per week and must be able to work a flexible schedule to cover weekday and overnight shifts. No school, half days, emergency evacuations and school trips will be accompanied by adjusted work schedules.
DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day to day operations in the residential village to maintain a safe, clean and harmonious environment
- Develop positive and professional relationships with students
- Document and report issues and concerns
- Work collaboratively with other Dorm Parents
- Attend all weekly residential staff meetings and professional development classes
- Adhere to the weekday/weekend duty schedule and the no-school/half-day schedule
- Manage afternoon and weekend activities
- Maintain a consistent set of student expectations within the residential program as outlined in the Residential Parent/Student handbook
- Report all programmatic issues and concerns
- Work with Campus Managers to address student behavioral issues/concerns
- Lead an advisory group of 15-20 assigned students
- Organize and lead weekly hall meetings with assigned students and student leaders
- Work closely with identified student leaders
- Monitor student personal and academic updates via Reach
- Meet with assigned students on a monthly basis and record all pastoral care notes
- Manage to weekly transportation schedule for approved student activities
- Promote re-enrollment and ensure all forms and student documents are collected
- Disperse and monitor student medications as instructed by NBPS medical staff
- Supervise prep time, structured study hall and ensure a quiet study environment is being maintained for all students
- Attend parent/teacher conferences as required for assigned students
- Compile, organize and communicate student progress reports directly to campus manager throughout the year
- Promote cultural sensitivity and inclusiveness in the residential village
- Promote student participation in residential and school-wide activities
- Attend all emergency evacuations Attend all school trips during the assigned breaks (Fall and Spring)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Experience supervising a group of teenagers, or experience of a practical nature in working with youth
- Excellent team player and team building skills
- Ability to set clear boundaries and expectations with students
- Caring, understanding and patient nature
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through
