Job Summary:

The Controller directs the activities of product costing & analysis, and inventory valuations. The position works closely with operational peers and senior management to improve the cost accounting information and analysis throughout the business. The position provides senior management key decision support information on a regular basis. 

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Conduct month-end closing tasks for inventory, cost accounting, and cost of goods sold.

• Develop comprehensive gross margin analyses on product sales, focusing on manufacturing costs, standard costs, and variances.

• Provide management with reports that detail and compare factors influencing product or service costs and profitability.

• Collaborate with production managers and other ERP stakeholders to review and set standard costing information for finished goods, work-in-process, and raw materials.

• Track and report changes in standard costs and variances.

• Evaluate the cost impact of changes in product design, raw materials, and other cost inputs to assess overall profitability, necessary BOM revisions, and cost rollups.

• Review margin data on quotations and offer recommendations to senior management on pricing and cost adjustments.

• Maintain and enhance processes and controls related to manufacturing costs and inventory valuation.

• Lead and oversee the quarterly review process for excess and obsolete inventory.

• Ensure the validity and accuracy of ERP data through analysis, internal controls, and coordination with inventory and production management.

• Assist in developing and documenting policies and procedures, including system requirements and internal controls.

• Represent Finance/Accounting on teams focused on improving operations and reducing costs.

 

Education & Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

• CPA certification is preferred.

• At least 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience or experience in public accounting.

• Proficiency with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and accounting systems.

• Proven capability to comprehend, analyze, and articulate cost accounting information.

• Demonstrated expertise in using Excel, data modeling, and system tools.

• Additional skills.

• Ability to lead, collaborate, influence, and build relationships across all levels of the organization, and manage a team for project implementation.

• Excellent skills in written, verbal, and presentation communication, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills.

• Must be self-driven and capable of leading and working as part of a team.
