Overview
This is a brief guide to the Machinist II function and career guide for progression. While this position is located within the Supply Chain group, employees may want to pursue other opportunities depending on individual training, education, knowledge, skills, and experience. The following outlines the requirements with the purpose of completing the objectives for enhanced skills and competency of the position, and qualifications (steps needed) for moving to next level position, if desired. Minimum Standards
This is designed for the Machinist II position congruent with job description and competencies. (For more information on these positions, please contact HR or to reference the HR Management System.)
Education
• Minimum High School Diploma or General Education Diploma qualification; post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree from an accredited technical school. College or equivalent experience supported by applicable certification is a plus.
Knowledge
• Interpretation of 2D drawings
• Interpreting specifications and job travelers
• Working knowledge and application of ISO, API and other applicable manufacturing standards/regulations
• Mazak Integrex mill turn centers and Mazatrol programming is desired
• Must have mill turn and 5 axis experience.
• Able to prove out EIA programs. Knowledge of G-codes.
• Knowledge of 3D’s safety and quality processes and procedures.
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• E2 knowledge a plus
Experience
• At least 10 yrs. in machine technology
• Production of long, thin-wall tubular parts, preferably in oil and gas industry
• Project ownership from start to completion, including quality acceptance
Skills
• Perform CNC setups, and production runs per assigned job travelers on mills, lathes, and mill-turn centers
• Interfacing with Engineering and Quality to ensure accuracy of required deliverables
• Proficiency in tuning, milling, threading and grooving
• Observe and follow operational and safety processes and procedures, and participation in behavior-based safety initiatives (e.g. Observations) and hazard/risk mitigation (e.g. Job Safety Analysis)
• Follow required procedures and produce documentation, as required
• Periodic maintenance on machine shop equipment
• Clean and de-burrs parts, as required
• Clean and maintain equipment, tooling and work
• Perform 5S and other duties and activities as directed
• Follow operational and safety processes and procedures, and participation in Observations initiative
• Mentoring
