Our client, a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services, has several openings in the Bronx for skilled Diesel Mechanics ready to take on the next challenge in their career.

$34-38/hour, commensurate with experience

Monday-Friday, start time between 7-10p

Our Diesel Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, including diesel heavy trucks and engines. Performs preventive maintenance inspection (PMI); troubleshoots, repairs, and rebuilds major components on vehicles and equipment. Ensures accurate diagnosis and effective repair and/or replacement of components. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Inspect, diagnose and perform the highest level of troubleshooting and repair on trucks and equipment with Cummins, Mack and Detroit Diesel engines.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repair of ECMs and TCMs
  • Washes vehicles and equipment.
  • Assists with service calls for breakdowns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate / OSHA Standards.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Assists in the repair and adjustment of equipment.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years’ experience as class A or B mechanic
  • Computer diagnostic experience is required
  • Prior experience from waste management industry or heavy equipment/yellow iron dealership experience is a highly desired
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and practices s a plus
  • HS/GED diploma, Trade school or similar training
  • Bilingual preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.00 - $38.00 per hour
