JOB SUMMARY:
The manager, in collaboration with their marketing partner, will have ownership of the new product roadmap across multiple company categories: pain relief, digestive care, and cough/cold. Their key areas of focus include:
  • New Product Roadmap Development: The manager will collaborate with Marketing to strategically plan and develop the multiyear product roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals and consumer needs while reducing technical and timeline risk.
  • New Product Execution: Manage internal and external teams in the development of product formulation from ideation through scale-up activities in collaboration with manufacturers to ensure new products launch on time across the multiyear roadmap.
  • Internal Team Development and External Collaboration: They will lead and coach an internal Research and Development (R&D) team, as well as collaborate with external R&D partners. This involves fostering innovation, driving product development, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Project Specific Lead: They will lead specific projects from start to finish as the R&D lead.
Overall, the manager will play a pivotal role in driving product innovation in a cross-functional team environment, improving the lives of our consumers, and ensuring the company meets financial goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES/ACTIVIES:
  • Responsible for R&D leadership of multiple product lines/categories within PCH portfolio
  • Ensure R&D multiyear pipeline meets business financial goals with appropriate timelines.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor internal R&D team ensuring the team has the necessary skills and expertise to achieve project goals.
  • Participate in consumer research to understand the needs of the consumer.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to ideate new products.
  • Develop and manage product plan and budget using internal and external resources.
  • Lead the identification and evaluation of new technologies to incorporate into new products.
  • Ideate novel consumer claims and work together with Legal and Regulatory on substantiation.
  • Manage internal and external team in development of product formulation.
  • Lead technical scale-up activities in collaboration with manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with project management to ensure projects launch on time.
  • Develop relationships with raw material suppliers and other external companies to support R&D
  • Negotiate Development Agreements with external partners.
  • Provide minimal R&D support to currently marketed products and manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Procurement to negotiate and optimize product cost of goods.
QUALIFICATIONS:       
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in Product Development
  • Preferred experience in consumer healthcare innovation
  • Preferred experience in oral dose formulation
  • Successful track record of leading cross-functional teams
  • Capable of quickly gathering high-level understanding of complex technical issues
  • Excellent organizational, diplomatic, and problem-solving skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • High proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Travel up to 15% mainly in North America.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
 
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Salary range$120K to $150K 
Work Hours: 40 hours per week.
