Full-Time Butcher - Entry level, at Strip District Meats
Local family owned meat market seeking hardworking employee for a full-time 8 - 5 position in our cutting room. Employees must be able to work on Saturdays and some Sundays. Full time employees are eligible for employee discounts, sick pay, 401k with a match, fully paid benefits including dental, health, and vision (after 90 days), and vacation pay (after one year).

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a positive and friendly attitude towards customers and fellow team members.
  • Rotating products and maintaining inventory of perishable items.
  • Unloading and stacking delivery trucks.
  • Understanding the importance of correctly using and monitoring product pricing, signage, and placement.
  • Keeping a clean, neat and orderly, and well-stocked meat counter, meat service cases and self-service cases.
  • Preparing, wrapping, weighing, slicing, and stocking meat department products, rotating them as necessary to ensure product quality and safety.
  • Helping with the preparation of ready to go meat products.
  • Safety sensitive position.

Requirements:

  • Remain helpful, tactful and courteous at all times.
  • Work quickly and efficiently, sometimes with little direction, to accomplish assigned duties.
  • Understand and follow food safety and sanitation rules, policies and guidelines.
  • Work safely around knives, sharp slicers and saws.
  • Stand for long periods of time, bend and twist, and frequently lift and/or maneuver merchandise and supplies weighing 20 – 40 lbs.
  • Work in refrigerated cutting rooms and walk-in coolers and freezers.
