Position Summary:
The Crown Mortgage Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the company’s financial operations related to mortgage activities. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing critical financial insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
-Reconcile daily cash transactions to investor accounting reports.
-Monitor daily cash balances and bank activity.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank statements and mortgage loan accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Prepare regulatory reports and filings as required by federal and state authorities.
- Support management with special projects and ad-hoc financial analyses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the mortgage or financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and relevant financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
