PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

First Place Housing provides much-needed safe and secure housing for the least advantaged families with children. The homeless factor for the Seattle area places a growing number of families into reality or risk of being homeless. First Place has made housing families a key element of what we do for children and the adults who care for them.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Housing Program Manager, the Housing Program Administrator is primarily responsible for providing on-site property management support to a 16-unit low-income permanent housing complex and a duplex with two subsidized units; and housing support services to families occupying 12 additional subsidized and transitional housing units. All the properties are in Seattle's Central District and Rainier Beach neighborhoods. Additionally, the Housing Program Administrator works as part of a team and may assist with the day-to-day administrative operations of the First Place Housing program and plays a key role in ensuring that the properties are operated in compliance with agency policies/procedures.

RESPONSIBLIITIES

  • Provide excellent customer service by responding in a confidential, respectful and timely manner to client’s
  • inquiries, concerns and needs.
  • Promote and foster good relations between all staff members, vendors partner agency staff, etc.
  • Participate in a constructive manner during staff meetings and in all other forms and times of correspondence.
  • Assist with other staff members’ duties when they are out
  • Contribute to a positive, team-oriented supportive work environment
  • Collaborate effectively with partner agencies, including but not limited to: SHA, City of Seattle, Solid Ground, King
  • County, and ETC
  • Assist in preparation of compliance reports as required
  • Assist with periodic inspections from various agencies
  • Observe/follow guidelines on confidentiality rights of clients and respect their privacy.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with other First Place Programs
  • Contribute to the mission of First Place
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned; learn and perform all takes in a timely and accurate manner

REQUIRED SKILLS

 

  • Demonstrated ability to track and complete all tasks accurately and in a timely manner
  • Ability to maintain calm professional and compassionate demeanor while interacting with clients displaying intense behavioral episodes
  • Six months' experience working with housing programs or related experience
  • Six months administrative experience or related experience
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively to a diverse group of people in the spirit of compassion
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, be detail-oriented and flexible; be able to apply sound judgement in order to make independent decisions as well as work as a team player
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete necessary documentation, follow guidelines and instructions.
  • Proficiency with computers (especially Windows and MS Office), and ability to learn property management software, camera systems, security systems, rent collection software, etc. in a timely manner.
  • Able to demonstrate commitment to the mission, goals, and values of First Place
  • Criminal history background checks are required prior to employment.

At times, you will be called upon to stretch your schedule, roll with the punches and provide rapid response all while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail, diligence, and confidentiality. An informality and, at times, a comfort with ambiguity combined with a sense of humor will be key characteristics to see your way through.
