POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Student Success and Engagement and the Director of Title III, demonstrate effective leadership, administration, and programming for the Connections Center to support the goals and fulfill the mission of Marion Technical College (the “College”). Provide direct student support and superb customer service to employees, community partners, and other constituents.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee operations for MTC Connections Center and provide leadership for student support initiatives related to basic needs/non-academic barriers such as food insecurity, housing, transportation, etc. Coordinate and provide day-to-day oversight of the Marion Campus Food Pantry Bryson Hall location.
  2. Serve as MTC’s liaison to the Buckeye Food Alliance. Monitor inventory and order/purchase additional food items and supplies as needed to keep the pantry stocked. Hire, train, and supervise student workers; maintain staff schedules, direct work tasks, and approve time cards. Organize special initiatives such as food and personal care drives, Thanksgiving feast boxes, etc.
  3. Develop a thorough understanding of available community services and resources. Meet with students in need of support and work with the Student Resource Navigator to connect students to resources.
  4. Perform outreach and coordinate marketing efforts to bring awareness of the Connections Center to campus community. Participate in College events such as new student orientation and admissions visit days to inform students and families about Connection Center services.
  5. Collaborate with College student support service areas that assist students experiencing basic needs insecurities and other barriers, including admissions, advising, financial aid, tutoring, counseling, disability services, and career services, to provide students with comprehensive and seamless support.
  6. Partner with external organizations and agencies to offer additional services, programs, workshops, etc. on campus that would benefit students.
  7. Work collaboratively with the College leadership team and MTC Foundation to identify and pursue opportunities for grants, community partnerships, fundraising, etc. that help support the Connections Center programs and operations.
  8. Manage the Connections Center budget; submit purchase requisitions and monitor expenses in conjunction with the Business Office.
  9. Meet regularly with the Connections Center advisory committee to support and manage department services and programs.
  10. Maintain an organized, comprehensive record-keeping system to process all departmental records required for external and internal purposes, including files, correspondence, and reports. Collect and maintain data on the impact of the Connections Center on student success for Title III Reporting.
  11. Monitor departmental activities, customer satisfaction, and student needs via ongoing evaluations and assessment. Identify areas for continuous improvement and implement a constructive plan to meet customer service standards and college goals.
  12. Identify and engage in ongoing professional development related to the position and in support of the department mission and goals.
  13. Maintain user proficiency for software programs, systems, and databases used by the College.
  14. Respond to inquiries from students, College employees, and customers in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality and privacy in accordance with the College, HIPAA, FERPA, student records, and any other protected documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, education, non-profit administration, or related required. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of two years of related experience; experience in social work, public service, or higher education highly desired. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills required. Strong computer and technology skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated ability to work independently and complete projects on time with minimal direction and oversight. Knowledge of issues related to poverty, basic needs insecurity, barriers to college student degree attainment, etc. highly desired. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to assist individuals with concerns and needs that may be of a sensitive nature with compassion and respect while maintaining confidentiality.

Any combination of work experience, training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted. Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned. Successfully pass a background check prior to and throughout employment. Valid driver’s license or dependable transportation required. Smart phone required to allow access to MFA-protected services.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This position is classified as Staff - Management, Professional, Administrative, and Support and will perform a wide range of professional and administrative support functions for the college, primarily in an office setting. Further information may be obtained from the Office of Human Resources.
