A leading food packaging manufacturer in Rochester is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical capabilities, electrical aptitude, and hands-on experience in maintaining packaging lines. This individual will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing packaging line equipment as needed, as well as serving as the maintenance setup person, ensuring efficient setup of new jobs on the production lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair packaging line equipment promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Set up new jobs on production lines, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues, including gear boxes, low voltage systems, and simple wiring.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Train alongside the seasoned mechanic who will be retiring to ensure a smooth transition.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance roles within the food manufacturing or packaging industry.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and proficiency in working with gear boxes, low voltage systems, and wiring.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Hands-on experience with thermoforming, blow molding, or injection molding machinery preferred.
  • Reliable transportation is required as the position is not on a bus line.
