Position Overview:

The Product Development Coordinator at Flybar will play a supporting role in driving the execution of toy products from concept through production. Based at our headquarters in Piscataway, NJ, this role reports directly to the Director of Product Development and Design. The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage development throughout the entire product lifecycle, ensuring performance, quality, and schedule adherence.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Brand team to support generation of new concepts.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure milestones are met on time.
  • Seek mechanical/engineering/safety input throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Assist in leading prototyping and proof-of-concept builds to test play patterns and key features.
  • Assist in creating product and performance specifications.
  • Act as a point of contact with merchandising teams in China, ensuring alignment on project details.
  • Participate in product review meetings and contribute to action plans for milestones and deliverables.
  • Anticipate and escalate project and product issues.
  • Collaborate with responsible departments to ensure all projects are on-cost, on-spec, and on-time.
  • Utilize tracking tools to manage and track key deliverables, milestones and costs.
  • Contribute to improving efficiency in the product development process through continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Requirements:

  • Creative perspective to contribute to product design solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Hands-on approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to actively engage with support teams to drive towards problem resolution.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in technical and organizational capacities.
  • Willingness to consider team feedback and adapt as necessary.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 1--2 years of relevant product development and project management experience.
  • Experience in the toy or consumer goods industry is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with plastics, materials, manufacturing, and/or engineering.
  • Familiarity with process or project management tools.
