Job DescriptionJob Description

Environmental consulting firm is seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Scientist / Environmental Engineer for its Honolulu office.

 

Employee must possess the necessary knowledge, education, experience, physical abilities, and communication skills to perform the duties described below:

 

  • Assist clients in complying with all aspects of Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4), Industrial, and Construction National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permitting and compliance.

  • Develop, manage and coordinate overall planning and implementation of MS4 Stormwater Management Programs (SWMP).

  • Use technical knowledge of NPDES regulations to plan, implement and monitor all MS4 minimum control measures: Public Education and Outreach, Public Participation, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, Construction Site Runoff, Post-Construction Site Runoff, and Good Housekeeping.

  • Develop programs to meet trash reduction, water quality, and TMDL requirements.

  • Prepare a variety of technical plans and reports (SWMP, SWPCP, SPCC, SSBMP, DMR, Annual Compliance Reports).

  • Work closely with staff, regulators, and client representatives on multiple projects based in the office and field.

 

Skills/Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Engineering, or other physical science from an U.S.-accredited four-year college or university.

  • 10+ years of experience in stormwater compliance.

  • Success project/task management experience

  • Excellent communication skills interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and the public.

  • Ability to read and interpret regulatory language including guidance documents and fact sheets to assist with evaluating and demonstrating compliance with stormwater policy for municipal or federal agencies.

  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations relating to the Clean Water Act and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program

  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and time management skills.

  • Strong reading comprehension and technical writing skills. 

  • Possessing a stormwater certification (e.g., CISEC, CPESC, CPSWQ, CPMSM, etc.) is a plus

  • Proficient with PC and MS Office.

  • Valid drivers' license, vehicle, and vehicle insurance.

  • Must be able to interview in Honolulu.

  • Compensation based upon experience.
