Black Gallina Consulting is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team We are a small accounting firm specializing in small businesses in food and drink, retail, food manufacturing, and alcohol distribution. Our focus is on providing Fortune 500 expertise to the small businesses that make up our neighborhoods. About 80% of our clients are located in Seattle, WA with the rest spread across the nation. We act as an out of house financial department for our clients providing payroll, AP/AR, accounting, and advisory services. This role is fully remote but we have a strong preference for someone in the Seattle area. 

What Your Day to Day Will Look Like

  • Operate in a client-facing role and oversee a portfolio of clients, assisting with year-end financial statement preparation, virtual CFO services (budgets, projections, management reports, etc) and compliance
  • Spearhead projects that improve the efficiency of our bookkeeping and financial reportings tasks firm-wide
  • Manage several people on the accounting team (recruitment, training, goal setting, task reviews & performance reviews)
  • Help when needed with bookkeeping, client onboarding (ex: cleaning up messy files), sales taxes and payroll
  • Work remotely and manage remote team members
  • Assist with special projects from time to time
  • Report directly to the CEO and be involved with strategic decisions of the firm

What You Need to Succeed

  • 7+ years of experience
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in an accounting firm
  • You have several years of experience working in an accounting function in industry, & oversaw the full cycle
  • You have 3+ years experience managing a team, including everything from training to performance reviews
  • You’re a clear communicator and are especially capable of explaining complex financial topics in ways that anyone can understand
  • You believe in delivering awesome customer service and you have experience in a customer-facing role
  • You have experience putting together financial statements, budgets, cash-flow projections and various financial reports to assist management in making decisions
  • You have experience working in Quickbooks Online
  • You have experience managing projects or tasks at a department or organizational level
  • You are interested in productivity and implementing and/or tweaking systems to make things run smoother
  • You are a problem solver

A plus but not required

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Have experience owning or operating a small business in retail, restaurant, or alcohol distribution industry.
  • Experience with Teamwork project management
  • Experience with any of the following: Syft Analytics, Dext, Notion, 1Password, Okta, Gusto, Plooto
  • Have your CPA or EA

In-person vs. Remote Work

Our firm is currently entirely remote with no plans to be in-person. We aim to gather in-person 1-2 times per year for an offsite meetup. Our preference for a candidate in the Seattle area is solely for context of where the majority of our clients operate.
