Job DescriptionJob Description

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders to cut, bore, grind or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • Build or repair simple to complex semi permanent, permanent and progressive dies.
  • Fit and assemble parts to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, fixtures and gauges using machine tools and hand tools
  • Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on part specifications.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of dies, fixtures and gauges for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc.
  • Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Keep work area clean and free of safety hazards
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Lead person.

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and operate tool room machinery for extended periods of time.

Minimum Position Requirements:

  • Trade school certification or high school education with minimum 1-2 years experience in tool making required.
  • Must demonstrate ability to use shop math, possess good verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret part prints and drawings.
