The purpose of this job is to accurately and safely inspect, receive, store, and distribute material, tools, equipment, and products within the company warehouse as well as picking, packing and scanning orders for customer pickup and delivery, in order to increase operational efficiency, company profitability and customer satisfaction.

Under close supervision, the Warehouse/Shop Hand will also get training for all processes related to disassembly and assembly of less complex rotating equipment. The Warehouse/Shop Hand follows instruction from a Repair job packet and router to perform DCI (Dismantle Clean and Inspect) and gives a written description of the wear and condition of critical components. The Warehouse/Shop Hand will assemble the seal following assembly procedures specific to the product, complete all inspection forms, and uses inspection equipment for proper documentation of the assembly. The Warehouse/Shop Hand will, install all tagging, and prep the seal (primary boxing) prior to moving it to shipping/receiving.

Duties & Responsibilities Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.  Complete internal forms and documents or reports as instructed. Verify correctness of received material against bill of lading invoices and checks for damage parts, etc. Sort and place materials or items in proper locations according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, color, or product code. Pulls parts and places in bin for production shops and performs counts as necessary. Checks, weighs, and packs products to confirm to work orders.  Finished process by wrapping, or creating loads for shipments.   Under close supervision, repairs returned seals or seal parts. Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices. With assistance, identifies and inspects material returned. Records information on designated forms. With assistance, evaluates from condition of material, current drawing revisions and product knowledge whether material is restockable or repairable. Receives assistance from Seal Repair personnel or supervisor when needed. Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats. Inputs data into the computer system via scanner.  Consults with Engineering department or Sales departments as necessary. Works from factory work orders, prints, rework orders and verbal instructions. Performs contract lapping - at times rebuilds simple seals, etc. Maintains a clean and neat work environment. Additional duties and responsibilities may vary based upon individual branch requirements. Perform duties in accordance with company policies. Perform other duties as required.
