Lumber Yard Associate

Lumber Yard Associate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide sales assistance to customers on orders and returns
- Operate forklift to load and unload trucks and rail cars as directed by supervisor
- Assist truck drivers in loading merchandise and materials ensuring it is safely and properly handled to prevent damage
- Assist truck drivers in unloading of and returning of credit items
- Ensure returned items are returned to proper storage location
- Unload incoming freight and check counts for accuracy
- Check all paperwork for accuracy
- Maintain yard cleanliness during course of work
- Perform duties in a safe manner observing safe procedures while alert to any unsafe working conditions
- Load and safely handle customer orders
- Maintain knowledge of proper identification of inventory items
- Locate and pull correct items by type, style and quantity as directed by supervisor to fill order completely, quickly and accurately
- Assist supervisor and other employees as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Ability to do basic math, read instructions and complete forms
- Communicate with customers, other employees and supervisors using verbal and written skills
- Knowledge and ability to use safe lifting techniques
- Driver's License (Required)
- Forklift experience preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Strength (lift, carry, push and pull): Maximum lift 100 lbs.; frequently lift/carry up to 80 lbs.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach, with manual dexterity and see (acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation)
- Reach over head to grasp materials
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold
- Work with mechanical equipment on daily basis
