Catering Sous Chef

We are looking for an ambitious Catering Sous Chef to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes in the kitchen.
The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team.
2 years off premise Catering experience a plus.
Responsibilities
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Undertake cooking duties such grilling, sautéing preparing sauce reducing sauces, par cooking food etc.
- Run and direct staff when Chef is not on site.
- Assist Chef with ordering, inventory, scheduling and putting away inventory
- Work hands on to exacute events A-Z
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, sandwiches, entrees etc.
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash etc.
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
- Work as a team player to keep staff and clients happy
- Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years culinary experience, work with hot and cold food preparation
- Safe serve certification
- Knowledge if basic soups, sauce, meat cleaning, fish cleaning and portioning
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
- Good knife skills
- A team player with good communication skills
- Patient, with an ability to stay positive under pressure
- Line cook experience on multiple stations is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset
Job Type: Full-time Position
Compensation: $23-25 per hour plus tip share, based on experience
Benefit Conditions:
- tip share
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
