To provide supportive intervention, information, and/or referrals to individuals/clients in an abuse situation or children of an abused parent.  Specializes in children’s needs and case management.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide advocacy for children and battered women as needed.  Performs counseling and supportive services to residential/non-residential children and their families or significant others, including crisis intervention, assistance, and case management.

  2. Provide emotional support for children and their family.  Counsel with ACT clients and their families through phone, group, and individual counseling.

  3. Collects, organizes and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics for goal setting.

  4. Coordinate and discuss issues regarding resident children with Crisis Counselor to formulate plans for case management of the family.

  5. Determine the immediate physical safety needs of children and their families, assisting them in achieving it.

  6. Child assessment to be provided on all children over the age of 2 years to define their needs and provide them with information to aid them in determining how to best meet those needs.

  7. Maintains accurate records, including residential files, telephone crisis records, medication logs, petty cash vouchers, and other files and records as needed.  Ensure the completion of necessary the completion of necessary forms and log entries, obtaining necessary signatures as required.

  8. Answer the door and telephone.  Maintain the security of the house by screening unidentified and/or unexpected visitors via the intercom.  Turn alarm system on during the day as needed or after 10:30 PM.

  9. Maintains and provides safety and security in the children’s play area, equipment, and supplies.  Make certain that the building and residents’

EDUCATION - TRAINING - EXPERIENCE:

 One to two years related experience and/or training working with children; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Knowledge of community resources related to services provided.  General knowledge of the problems of/and effective intervention with victim.  Working knowledge of non-violent and respectful methods of child discipline, or a willingness to learn.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

A Valid Florida Drivers License and Valid Auto Insurance is required.  A copy of each will be maintained in personnel file.

Pass a drug test and a Level 2 background check.
