This is a part-time position supporting annual inspection services to a variety of commercial and government clients including the Department of Interior and Department of Veterans Affairs. Position requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Falcon Nexus. Travel required, all expenses reimbursed back to the contractor.

Location: Nationwide inspections as various client locations

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to objectively interpret and consistently apply code requirements and related standards in accordance with various jurisdiction and company policy.
  • Understand and have knowledge of The Rules of the American National Safety Code of Elevators, Dumbwaiters, Escalators, and Moving Walks, and associated rules, regulations and standards as referenced and amended in construction code.
  • Understand and have knowledge of the basic installation, repair, maintenance and operational principles of elevators, escalators and related equipment.
  • Understand and have basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical principals as they apply to elevators and similar controls.
  • Understand and have knowledge of testing devices and methods used to detect possible defects in equipment, installation and operation.
  • Understand and have knowledge of new equipment, controls and safety devices.
  • Ability to determine inspection priorities.
  • Ability to objectively interpret and consistently apply code requirement and related standards.
  • Ability to communicate in the English language by phone or in person in a one-to-one or group setting.
  • Ability to use graphical instructions, such as blueprints, schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
  • Ascend and descend ladders or stairs and work at heights greater than 10 feet.
  • Travel over rough, uneven, and/or rocky surfaces and maneuver around scaffolding, bracing or other unfinished construction elements.
  • Bend or stoop repeatedly or continually for long periods of time on a daily basis.
  • Ride on top of elevators.
  • Work cooperatively with other contractors, customers, and the general public.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Current NAESA certification and/or certificate holders who meet or exceed QEI-1 Standards and are certified under ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024
  • Preference of 6-8 plus years relevant elevator industry experience and prefer a minimum of 3-5 years conducting maintenance evaluations, audits and/or inspections for government clients such as the Department of Interior and Veterans Affairs.
  • May be a combination of experience and education that meet the minimum requirement may be substituted.

Duties:

  • Inspects installation and operations of elevators and equipment to verify compliance with related building codes and safety codes. Inspections will be completed in accordance with plans and shop drawing, and within the standards of the authority having jurisdiction and the inspector’s certification standards.
  • Determines compliance or non-compliance with code requirements.
  • Investigates concerns of code violations, and reinvestigates to verify correction actions.
  • Accurately read, comprehend and interpret construction plans and shop drawings
  • Interpret and explain rules, regulations, ordinance, and standards to clients, architects, building management personnel, code authorities, property owners, and contractors.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate written and complete reports and submits records of inspections performed by due date specified.
  • Follows prescribed company standards, forms, processes and procedures in fulfilling job requirements. Obtains approval from management for deviation based on individual client needs.
  • Comply with all applicable safety rules and procedures common to the trade including compliance with Federal Government standards, procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
