Senior Scientist I-II – Discovery Chemistry – Conjugation
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our Discovery Chemistry Department as a Senior Scientist I-II and work as part of a team to drive success. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, independent, committed to the generation of high-quality data within a fast-paced and innovative research team. The Senior Scientist I-II will perform conjugation chemistry to support ongoing RNA-based drug discovery projects in several therapeutic areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Carry out assigned laboratory functions, applying knowledge and skill in an accurate, timely manner.
- Perform bioconjugation, purification, and characterization of novel conjugates involving oligonucleotides and other modalities.
- Develop and optimize conjugation protocols using novel chemistries and techniques.
- Identify critical issues and steps in conjugation processes and solve problems in a timely fashion.
- Track progress against project timelines, generate regular status updates, and communicate progress and issues to management.
- Contribute to the preparation of research reports and presentations for internal project teams, the leadership team, and external audiences.
- Maintain updated and well-organized lab notebooks.
- Manage and maintain equipment, reagents, and the dedicated laboratory environment needed to carry out assignments.
- Execute daily chemistry operations with an approach designed to minimize risks and hazardous waste streams.
- Maintain all appropriate corporate standards for lab safety and hazardous material management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

On-Site Protocol:
Physical presence at the ADARx Pharmaceuticals worksite is a necessary job function of this role, which the Company deems critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, employee well-being and engagement, and it enhances the Company culture.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience in bioconjugation.
- In-depth knowledge of modern bioconjugation methods, purification, and analytical techniques.
- Hands-on experience with oligonucleotide bioconjugation; previous experience in peptide and antibody-drug conjugation is preferred.
- Proficiency in purification techniques such as RP-HPLC, FPLC, size exclusion chromatography (SEC), and ion exchange chromatography (IEX). Experience in maintaining related instruments is a plus.
- Strong background in the analytical characterization of oligonucleotide conjugates, especially RP-HPLC and LC-MS.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective presentation of complex scientific data to cross-functional and senior management teams are essential for this role.
- Superior laboratory skills and awareness of laboratory safety.
- Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office Suite products.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
- A track-record of impacting drug discovery programs through driving projects to key decision points.
- Broad knowledge of scientific experience with track record of scientific achievement demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications.

- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards exploring new approaches.
- Understanding of project timelines and deliverables and plans/coordinate project work accordingly with departmental, functional, and external stakeholders.
- Adaptable / Flexible - willing and able to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities as well as an ability to meet day-to-day challenges with confidence and professionalism.
- Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the ability to take a hands-on approach to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Compensation:
- This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday, occasional overtime.
