The role of a Systems Engineer requires a comprehensive understanding of aircraft systems, avionics, and aerospace technology, with a particular focus on airfield lighting systems. This position demands hands-on experience in system integration, testing, and evaluation to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Essential Functions

1. System Design and Integration: Aid in the Development and design airfield lighting systems and related sub-systems to meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.2. Integrate various systems, of different manufacturing origins, ensuring seamless interoperability and functionality.

3. Testing and Evaluation: Conduct rigorous testing and evaluation of systems to validate performance and compliance with industry standards. Analyze test data to identify issues and implement corrective actions.

4. Technical Expertise: Provide expert guidance on “the latest and greatest” technology and system architecture to enhance project outcomes. Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical hardware.

5. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure cohesive project execution. Communicate technical concepts and project updates to stakeholders, both internally and externally.

6. Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and evaluation reports. Maintain accurate records of all systems engineering activities and findings.

Requirements

1. Strong knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics, and aerospace technology.

2. Experience with system integration, testing, and evaluation.

3. Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards for avionics systems.

4. Well-versed in hardware engineering in reaching out to suppliers to resolve issues with obsolescence

5. Must be able to work in a team environment and interact effectively with all other departments.

 

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, hardware engineering, or a related field. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python. Knowledge of CAD software for designing and analyzing aircraft systems.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

 

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as lab coats and safety glasses.

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The position also requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities. Must be able to push, bend, stoop, pull, lift, and carry numerous components, racks, wiring, computers, and equipment. Maximum single equipment and/or component weight of 50-75 pounds. May involve repetitive hand motion.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel out-of-area and overnight may be expected.
