ASSISTANT CONTROLLER 

Salary:  $100k - $110k/year

Location:  Marietta
Hours: 8-5, M-F 

An accounting position that coordinates daily operations and special assignments using GAAP.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS  
1.    Works closely with Accounting Manager to coordinate daily accounting activity in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, and general accounting as needed.
2.    Primary administrator of the online banking function such as stop payments, wire transfers, positive pay, running daily activity reports and communicating banking information to the appropriate individuals.
3.    Oversees projects such as monthly and annual close out and preparation of documentation for annual audits.
4.    Assists Controller with all audits and ensures University compliance to federal, state and regulatory requirements and policies.  
5.    Assist in the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and other related reports required.
6.    Assist with cash management of the federal, state and private financial aid programs.
7.    Perform analysis on various accounts and business activities as assigned by the Controller.
8.    Serves as liaison with Finance and participates as an active member of the Retirement Plan Committee
9.    Oversees the Payroll processing function

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Education, Training and/or Experience

Bachelors degree in accounting/finance or related field and a minimum of 3 -5 years experience in accounting.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics 

1.    Considerable knowledge of the fund accounting principles.
2.    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact well with the University community.
3.    Self motivated and able to work independently.
4.    Demonstrate personal and professional integrity.
5.    Ability to work with and maintain confidential employee information.
6.    Experience in development and implementation of policies and procedures.
7.    Team building and supervisory skills; organizational and staff development skills.
8.    Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects, adhering to strict timelines.
9.    High degree of initiative and independent judgment.
10.    Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
11.    Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum five years experience with Ellucian/Datatel/Colleague.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS  

1.    Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business processes  
2.    Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.  
3.    Must be able to lift 25 lbs.  

WORKING CONDITIONS  

1.    Work performed in a general office environment.  
2.    Some travel may be required. 
3.    Will require availability for extended work periods to meet deadlines.
