We are hiring a full time bilingual receptionist as a member of our Vision Rehabilitation Services Team.

Metrolina Association for the Blind, Inc., has been providing services to and empowering people with blindness and visual impairment since 1934.

We ae hiring a full time Receptionist. We are seeking individual who is flexible, adaptable, comfortable with a diverse community, and has good people/custom service skills. This is a full time year round position with benefits.

Purpose: The receptionist is the forward-facing position for our organization and is essential for our continued success. 

You will be part of a highly specialized team of professionals providing vision rehabilitation services to the dynamic Charlotte community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Pass a rigorous background, drug screening and credit check
  • Bilingual - Spanish and English

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screen all visitors via the video and intercom systems prior to entering the building and follow all security measures with check-in process
  • Sign for all special deliveries and follow the procedures for mail delivery, USPS included
  • Obtains caller's name and takes message or arranges for appointment with person called upons
  • Directs caller to destination, and records name, time of call, nature of business, and person called upon as required
  • Types memos, correspondence, reports, or other documents
  • Directs clients to appropriate services
  • Provides empathetic encouragement to blind and visually impaired clients and families
  • Provides information on blindness and low vision - related issues
  • Translate for staff as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
