Overview


The role of the Commercial Roofing Estimator involves accurately estimating the costs for commercial roofing projects, including materials, labor, and other expenses. The Estimator is also responsible for effectively communicating with clients, vendors, and other involved parties to ensure timely and cost-effective estimates.

Job Description


As a Commercial Roofing Estimator, your responsibilities will include inspecting roofs, reviewing project plans and specifications, and creating accurate job estimates. You will need to prepare detailed estimates for commercial roofing projects, conduct research on materials, labor, and other cost analysis, and keep records of bids, suppliers, and job costs. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and vendors will also be a key part of your role. Additionally, you will need to evaluate the potential profitability of projects based on estimates and ensure that all materials and processes adhere to industry standards and safety protocols. Managing budget vs. actual costs and handling warranty submittals will also be part of your responsibilities.

Duties


  • Generate detailed cost estimates of commercial roofing projects.
  • Visit work sites, inspect existing materials (if present), and gather data related to materials and labor cost.
  • Create cost comparisons with historical data of similar projects.
  • Solicit cost estimates from contractors
  • Monitor progress of existing projects
  • Mentor junior roofing estimators.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull material when applicable
  • Travel and work on weekends, occasionally.

Qualifications:


  • At least 5 years of commercial roofing estimating experience.
  • Roof tech-ing experience
  • Experienced in working with multiple roofing systems including EPDM, TPO, PBC, Standing Seam, Flat, etc. All not required, but preferred.
  • Experience in the Edge estimating software, highly preferred, not required.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of building materials, products, construction techniques, and industry standards.
  • Experience with Xactimate, not required.
  • Manufacturer training certificates, a plus
  • HAGG certification, a plus
