Job Summary: The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in commercial and residential buildings. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely. The HVAC Service Technician is expected to provide excellent customer service while working independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation:

    • Install HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, furnaces, ductwork, and thermostats, in accordance with manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
    • Collaborate with other technicians and contractors to complete installations on time and within budget.

  • Maintenance & Repair:

    • Perform routine maintenance on HVAC systems, including cleaning, inspecting, and adjusting components to ensure optimal performance.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identifying the root cause of issues.
    • Repair or replace faulty components, such as compressors, motors, thermostats, and fans, to restore system functionality.
    • Ensure all repairs are performed to industry standards and comply with safety regulations.

  • Customer Service:

    • Communicate with clients to explain the nature of the service or repair, providing clear recommendations for maintaining system efficiency.
    • Offer advice on energy-saving practices and recommend system upgrades when necessary.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with customers.

  • Documentation & Reporting:

    • Keep accurate records of services performed, including maintenance schedules, repairs, and parts used.
    • Provide detailed reports on system conditions, identifying potential issues and recommending future maintenance or upgrades.
    • Submit all required paperwork and reports to the Service Manager in a timely manner.

  • Safety & Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
    • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, and follow proper procedures for handling refrigerants and other hazardous materials.
    • Stay updated on industry standards, building codes, and safety regulations to ensure compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician.
    • Proven experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in commercial and/or residential settings.

  • Education:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Completion of a certified HVAC training program or apprenticeship is preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in HVAC installation and repair.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Certifications:

    • EPA 608 certification required for handling refrigerants.
    • Additional certifications (e.g., NATE, HVAC Excellence) are a plus.
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
