Civil Underground Utilites Laborers are responsible for the assembly and connecting of pipe systems for water, sewer, and storm drains. These professionals will be required to inspect the site, dig trenches, lay / fit pipe together and ensure proper jointing and sealing of system per project plans and specifications. Candidate must have a working knowledge of pipelaying practices and a commitment to safety. Strong leadership skills are a plus. This is a full-time position with great benefits such as vacation time, sick pay, holiday pay, health benefits, and a 401K contribution. There must be a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience.

Interested candidates can fill out a job application at our office (Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) if no resume or employment profile is provided. A base pay will be set but wages can go up to $63.00 an hour on prevailing wage jobs. Base pay is likely from $22 an hour to $34 an hour, DOE.

Required Qualifications:

  • Install new pipes around a property using an eclectic assortment of tools, including transit levels, grade rods and levels.
  • Read and follow plans to install and connect pipe runs and appurtenant structures per project specifications.
  • Layout and excavate trenches, per staking, for installation of pipes and backfill once they are in place with the approved materials.
  • Pothole and locate existing underground structures.
  • Train other pipelayers in the process and supervise new hires initially to ensure they can work independently.
  • Operate proper tools and equipment to perform the allotted task.

  • This role will be physically demanding at times and will require you to work extended hours in various types of environments and weather conditions.

  • Candidates must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to job sites in and around southern California.
