Job Summary:
The Director of Nursing primary responsibility is to be “The Captain of the Team”. This entails motiving, inspiring and leading your team towards success. Your adherence to organizational values promotes team cohesion, clinical excellence, and extraordinary patient care. Your tasks include providing clinical support and direction to the nurse and aide staff and facilitating patient flow to ensure patient safety, quality and experience are at the highest levels. You ensure skill levels of nurse/aide match patient assignment. You serve as a clinical resource and role model to all employees.
Qualifications/ Educational Requirements:
Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Arizona or compact state without disciplinary action.
Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience.
Two years of hospice nursing experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Relative computer experience and software knowledge.
Strong commitment to organizational values: service excellence, accountability, integrity, and teamwork.
Current CPR Certification.
Responsibilities/essential functions:
Must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Provides support to team members, patients, and families.
Provides supervision to clinical personnel. Ensures skill levels of all disciplines match patient assignment and serves as a clinical resource and role model to all employees.
Provides oversight of orientation and training of clinical personnel.
Facilitates patient flow to ensure patient safety, quality and service excellence are provided.
Provides clinical support and direction by performing joint/supervisory visits with team members.
Triage emergencies within the team.
Facilitates IDT meetings and assists in coordinating patient care.
Assigns new patients to the interdisciplinary team and ensures skill level matches patient acuity.
Facilitates and coordinates all care requiring general inpatient, respite and/or continuous care.
Coordinates and follows through with admissions, discharges, revocations, and transfers.
Provides oversight of medications, equipment, and supplies.
Coordinates care and builds strong relationships with community facility staff.
Monitor’s process/documentation requirements within facilities.
Monitor schedules to ensure services in each patient plan of care are provided.
Facilitates interpersonal relationships by listening, validating, and inspiring others to be their best.
Conducts chart audits and provides feedback for employees’ continued growth and development.
Participates in the performance evaluation and performance improvement activities.
Attend and participate in leadership meetings and activities. Conducts nurse and CNA meetings.
Promotes compliance with policies, procedures, process, federal and state regulations, and accreditation standards.
