Veterinary Technician Clinical Director

The Clinical Director for Veterinary Nursing will oversee the clinical education of students in the Veterinary Nursing Program. This role will ensure that students receive high-quality clinical training and are prepared for a successful career in veterinary nursing.
Key Responsibilities
- Secure new clinical sites and contractual agreements to provide students with diverse clinical experiences.
- Coordinate the tracking and verification of all program clinical affiliation contracts to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Conduct orientation for students at each clinical education site to ensure a smooth transition into the program.
- Review student success rates by class and implement a plan to reduce student withdrawals, maintaining an 80% student success rate for all classes taught in the program.
- Monitor competency evaluations and clinical records with students to ensure they meet program standards.
- Maintain student grades by established policies and prepare final grades at the end of each semester to update student records and transcripts.
- Evaluate students' performance regarding course objectives and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
- Visit clinical sites to review and evaluate students' clinical performance and progress, coordinating with site instructors to ensure clinical education is effective.
- Coordinate the clinical and didactic education for the Veterinary Nursing Programs program, revising the clinical education plan as needed and recommending changes to the Program Director.
- Coordinate with clinical staff to establish a regular site for students and coordinate the scheduling of students within the department.
- Develop clinical objectives and evaluations to ensure students meet program standards.
Requirements
- Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). A baccalaureate degree is preferred.
- Three (3) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience within the veterinary field.
- Licensed doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) or a credentialed veterinary technician (CVT).
- Must hold a current license, certification, or other designation as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the veterinary field.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other computer skills.
