General Position Summary: This skilled position works in the installation, modification, and repair of plumbing and related systems, equipment, and fixtures for the interior and exterior of the jobsite.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with the installation, calibrating, testing and repairs and maintenance of all plumbing systems including natural gas, portable or fixed gas tanks and fuel oil systems, fire protection systems, sewage systems, drains/gutters, piping, grease traps, bathroom toilet fixtures and pumping equipment for the interior and exterior of the jobsite.
  • Provides technical assistance to the center’s functional spaces, shops, and departments.
  •  Installs supports for pipes, equipment, and fixtures prior to installation.
  • Assembles fittings and valves for installation.
  • Installs heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters.
  • Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
  • Assisting with the installation of pipe and fittings for copper, cast iron, and PVC/CPVC pipes, and for drain, sewer, and gas lines.
  •  Installing fittings and components above and in ground.
  • Unloading and carrying materials to the jobsite.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 4 years of plumbing experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of the plumbing trade.
  • Thorough knowledge of the prevailing codes of the plumbing trades.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and to lay out work from prints, rough plans, sketches, drawings, manufacturer literature/specifications and broken parts.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
  • Full OSHA understanding.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license – good driving record.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work in high elevations above 10’ of height utilizing scissor lifts, boom lifts and scaffolds.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times and 35 pounds constantly.
  • Must be able to traverse a variety of properties with stairs in a variety of weather.
  •  Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
