Regulatory Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Mortgage Compliance Specialist. The ideal candidate will act as a pivotal resource in managing and ensuring our compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, serving branches, departments, investors, and regulatory bodies. This role requires a proactive approach to compliance reviews, research, and audits, and is suited for someone familiar with the mortgage lending industry’s regulatory framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a compliance resource, responding to inquiries from various stakeholders including branch offices, other departments, investors, and regulators.
- Assist in the execution of the company's Compliance Plan through internal reviews and regulatory compliance assessments.
- Conduct investigations into potential compliance issues and effectively report findings.
- Research, analyze, and summarize relevant state and federal laws and regulations to support compliance efforts.
- Prepare and maintain necessary regulatory filings and assist in the completion of company compliance reports.
- Engage in the review process for the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) data using QuestSoft and ensure accuracy of entries.
- Provide support to the Marketing Team by reviewing materials and ensuring they meet compliance standards.
- Develop and refine training content for staff compliance education, maintain training schedules, and monitor completion.
- Evaluate compliance-related policies and procedures and recommend improvements.
- Assist with regulatory audits and examinations, ensuring timely completion and follow-up on identified issues.
- Perform administrative duties including copying, scanning, and preparing mailings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a compliance role within the mortgage industry or a closely related field.
- Extensive familiarity with mortgage industry regulations and experience working with federal and state regulators such as FDIC, HUD.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to summarize complex legal information.
- Experience with Encompass Loan Origination System preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external contacts.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Administrative skills with a keen eye for detail.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law, or related field preferred.
