Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Nursing to join our multispecialty ambulatory surgery center located in uptown New Orleans. The Director of Nursing will play a crucial role in overseeing the clinical operations, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and leading a team of skilled nursing professionals.

 

Our facility features two operating rooms and focuses heavily on GYN, Fertility, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Oculoplastic Surgery, and Pain management procedures.

 

We continue to exceed the national goals for quality, safety, and patient satisfaction. We are a Louisiana state-licensed facility and maintain Medicare certification.

 

Job Summary

Responsible for directing, coordinating and controlling all aspects of the operating functions, processes, and staffing of the facility while demonstrating the primary goal of efficiently providing surgical services that exceed customer expectations and improve clinical and financial operations.

 

Responsibilities and Expectations

· The daily operation of the facility

· Serving, along with any committee appointed for the purpose, as a liaison between the Governing Board, the Medical Staff, and all facility departments

· Reporting the pertinent activities concerning the facility to the Governing Board at regular intervals

· Appointing a person responsible for the facility in the absence of the Administrator

· Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and administrative staff to ensure cohesive and efficient operations

· Deploy, monitor, and ensure that the facility's operational processes are appropriately integrated within the facility's QPI program

· Onboarding of new hires

· Maintaining credentialling for surgeons

· Work closely with billing team to ensure accurate and timely filing

· Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvement plans as needed.

· Ensure compliance with facility’s policy and procedures

· Develop, monitor, and control the staffing needs

· Ensure compliance with government regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.

· Negotiate and control all external contracts, such as those with physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, and purchasing agreements.

· Establish pricing for procedures based on cost analysis and local market standards.

· Foster positive work relationships among all departments of the facility and act as liaison between facility, physicians, vendors, etc.

· Manage nursing schedules, staffing, and resource allocation

· Oversee the management of medical supplies and equipment

· Participate in budget planning and financial management activities

· Develop and ensure compliance with appropriate departmental policy and procedure manuals for use by the staff.

· Closely monitor variations in the financial performance of the facility to avoid cash flow problems.

· Personnel Administration. Currently the center has 12 full-time employees.

 

Qualifications

· Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master of Science in Nursing or healthcare-related field preferred.

· Current RN license in the state of Louisiana

· Minimum five years of nursing experience with at least three years in a leadership role with an ambulatory surgery center or similar healthcare setting

· Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and perioperative nursing.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

· Good command of the English language, both verbal and written.

· Ability to work well with physicians, employees, patients and others.

· The Governing Board may determine other qualifications as seen fit.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

· Mobility to move about the facility to supervise employees and activities.

· Frequent exposure to patient care typical.

· Mental Demands: Requires frequent judgment, leadership, and the ability to make decisions and solve problems immediately; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills.

· Category II exposure to blood borne pathogens; frequent exposures to patient care areas; may encounter chemical hazards.
