Job DescriptionJob Description

RADIOLOGY PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (RPA) OR PA-C 

The RPA or PA-C will perform breast and thyroid biopsies. They will perform arthrograms, pain injections, fluoroscopy, and aspirations.

Practice is open to other procedures that the RPA or PA-C can perform such as paracentesis and thoracentesis, as long as in the PA’s scope of practice.

The RPA or PA-C will Supervise and interpret DEXA scans for Osteoporosis before the radiologist signs off on the study.

The RPA or PA-C will monitor for contrast reactions in the designated centers. Must be familiar with contrast reactions and able to provide prompt recognition and treatment. They must also be able to run a code and follow protocols under the supervision of the radiologist.

The RPA or PA-C will provide coverage of the radiology clinics as a Clinical Supervisor.

 

Other Roles and Duties include:

 PA certification and Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications are required.

  • Perform and/or assist the Radiologist in biopsies, post-biopsy dressing, wound care, and patient emergency situations.
  • Order consultations with other services as required.
  • Take an active role in patient and family education, liaising between referring physicians and their families.
  • Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • DEA License preferred must be able to prescribe for premedication for contrast reactions and allergies.
