Duties:

  • Perform initial-response screening following protocols.
  • Escort patients, prepare them for examination, and obtain vital signs.
  • Document patient history and care in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications and immunizations.
  • Set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies; manage patient requests.
  • Enter orders for medication, radiology, and lab tests in the EHR.
  • Provide after-visit instructions and process medication refill orders.

Skills:

  • Collect and process specimens; perform CLIA-waived tests.
  • Conduct electrocardiography, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy.
  • Act as a liaison between patients and medical staff; schedule appointments and procedures.
  • Obtain insurance pre-authorizations; apply third-party policies.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance programs and maintain safety standards.
  • Educate patients on health maintenance and community resources.

Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Certification from AAMA/CMA, AMT, NHA CCMA, NCCT NCMA preferred.
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
  • BLS-C certification required.

Experience:

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with clinical externship or equivalent experience.
  • Alternatively, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), EMT, or military-trained medical personnel with relevant clinical experience.
