Position Overview:

This department proactively addresses unplanned or short-term staffing requirements due to various factors such as vacations, call-offs, and increases in patient census or acuity.

As a member of our contingent staff, you will undergo the same comprehensive screening, orientation, and training processes as all team members at Henry Ford Health System.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of healthcare providers and nursing leadership, you will perform a range of administrative and clinical tasks to support high-quality, compassionate patient care. Your duties will include:
  • Welcoming and escorting patients to examination rooms.
  • Gathering medical histories and recording vital signs.
  • Preparing patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures.

Demonstrate clinical proficiency as a Medical Assistant.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following educational and experiential requirements:
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship (minimum of 160 hours) and at least one year of continuous experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Alternatively, graduation from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship, accompanied by a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the last five years.
  • Possession of a current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with at least five years of clinical medical assisting experience.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with a minimum of one year of clinical experience.
  • Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years.

Ability to perform a wide array of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care is essential. Basic computer proficiency and keyboarding skills are required. Successful completion of pharmacology training is also necessary.

Certifications:
Current BLS-C certification is required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credentials are preferred.
