Role and Responsibilities:

The Production Supervisor, supervises and coordinates the daily activities of workers engaged in Production Operations within their shift. Production Supervisor coordinates with Engineering for related maintenance activities, while strategizing with Manufacturing Department to ensure execution of the Production Schedule. The Production Supervisor will also receive direction and guidance from the Sr. Operations Manager and upper Leadership for open projects and support or feedback. Available to work extended hours as required, to execute projects or increased workload. Adjust staffing to achieve the Production schedule or changes inherent in a Manufacturing. Report overall KPI’s to superior(s) monthly. General understanding of how the manufacturing validation process runs in relation to introduction of new products or processes (methodology, validation plans, scheduling, associated KPIs)

 

Duties:

1.      An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or the following (These examples may not include all additional task required of the position)

2.      Meet or exceed daily Production goals, through strategic planning at the Production floor level.

3.      Escalates identifiable issues affecting production output and collaborates with other departments to achieve Production goals.

4.      Assigns and supervises duties of Production staff, making recommendations on schedule changes and time-off requests.

5.      Coordinates with department heads and staff concerning maintenance related activities daily.

6.      Conducts training, counseling and ensures compliance of all company policies.

7.      Ensures work orders and records concerning time, material and equipment are properly filled out.

8.      Coordinates the ongoing daily activities with all departments and scheduling to ensure execution of the schedule.

9.      Report ongoing status of Projects along with any delays to upper management.

10.   Maintain critical supplies to ensure operations are not impacted, work with Production Administrative Support to stock critical consumable items to ensure there is no impact Production Operations.

11.   Build relationships with colleagues in the factory and office environments to effectively facilitate continuous improvement initiatives and follow through change implementation; drive LEAN practices throughout the organization regarding schedule optimization.

12.   Follows Standard Operating Procedures and audit to ensure compliance.

13.   Identify non-value-added operations in the organization and propose new operational procedures to achieve leaner manufacturing processes.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

2-4 years’ experience in running a contract production manufacturing environment.

  

Behavioral characteristics:

The Production Supervisor must provide leadership to all subordinates by setting expectations and defining goals for the department by setting KPI’s. Develop personnel through coaching while creating a positive environment to allow for ownership within the department. Address downs time and outages and looks for solutions, not focus on the failures of individuals. Conceives, develops ideas to improve existing process and through put, communicates, and sells solutions to direct superior(s) clearly and concisely. Provides status updates on critical projects. Communicates to subordinates new process changes in a positive manner. Challenges and inspires team to meet new challenges. Interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of an organization.

 Preferred Skills

Demonstrated leadership ability in a Production Supervisor position. Able to set clear, reasonable expectations and hold staff accountable. Strong leadership skills at all levels, good work ethic. Ability to professionally communicate and direct the work of others. Process Control knowledge, familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's). Excellent time management, organization and prioritization capability and excellent communication and organizational skills. Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time efficiently with the ability to manage stress in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Hands on experience with manufacturing equipment, with applicable knowledge highly desirable. Ability to work with minimal supervision, strong work ethic, attention to detail and organizational/ multi-tasking skills detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful professional with practical experience in Production management.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employees move between hot and cold environments. Temperatures may be around 45F or 100F and in between. Hottest temp months between May & September. Exposed to moving equipment through the shift.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); toxic or caustic chemicals and extreme cold (non-weather). The employee is expected to tolerate the dust that floats in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may vary though out the shift or duties performed.
