Job Summary: The Controller will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the company, including monitoring job costs and billings, data entry, pay requests, budgets, and other financial reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of construction accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and other team members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
  • Monitor job costs and billings, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contracts and project budgets.
  • Manage data entry for financial transactions, ensuring timely and accurate recording of all financial data.
  • Prepare and process pay requests, ensuring timely and accurate payments to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, providing regular updates and financial reports to management.
  • Analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, preparing and providing necessary documentation for audits.
  • Coordinate with project managers to review financial performance and provide financial support for project planning and execution.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial data integrity.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools is a plus.
