InstroTek Inc, is currently seeking a full-time Field Service Calibration Technician in our Concord, CA. The Service Technician position serves as the first point of contact for customers regarding specifications, operation, and service of our products. This position requires approximately 75% travel with the majority being overnight travel.

The Service Technician position serves as the first point of contact for customers regarding calibration, servicing, specifications, and operation of our products.

  • Provide calibration and service of laboratory testing equipment used in the Soils, Asphalt, and Concrete testing industries, both in the field and in-house, as needed to meet our customers’ demands.
  • Perform Verification(s) and Calibration(s), following established standards and specifications, to a variety of laboratory testing equipment, used throughout the materials testing industry.
  • Provide technical support on phone, through written correspondence, and in person
  • Inspect and test equipment and machinery for quality and adherence to specifications
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and determine action required to correct equipment malfunction(s)
  • Perform repairs to laboratory testing equipment in field and in-house environments
  • Perform preventive maintenance to laboratory testing equipment both in field and in-house environments
  • Provide customer service, support, and assistance in all facets and at all times
  • Develop new and maintain current customer relations via on-site visits
  • Answer phone calls, e-mails, and other customer correspondence; responding in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work space and shop area
  • Maintain tools and calibration equipment in good working condition at all times
  • Plan and schedule travel, hotels, vehicle rentals, etc. necessary for travel to field locations.
  • Record and submit, time and expenses as required
  • Adhere to the highest safety standards at all times, utilizing the appropriate personal protective equipment as required

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 plus years of calibration experience
  • Knowledge of repair and troubleshooting techniques of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems may be beneficial
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings/instructions and schematics
  • Ability to follow procedures, instructions and assembly techniques
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and maintain precision measuring tools
  • Strong attention to detail, especially as it applies to identifying improperly fitted or manufactured components
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to articulate product information and details to customers by phone and in person
  • Working knowledge of and previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite

SKILL and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately 75% travel. No weekend work. Overnight travel up to 10 to 15 days a month. 1 week a month required in the office. Company car available for company business travel only, employee must be able to provide their own transportation to and from office.
  • Valid Drivers License and eligible to be insured
  • Ability to Lift 45+ lbs
  • Long periods of standing while working on equipment
