Our firm is seeking a detail-oriented and organized [bilingual] Settlement Department Clerk (Entry Level) to join our team at a First-Party Property Law Firm in Davie, FL. In this role, you will be responsible for processing incoming settlement checks and ensuring accurate documentation and distribution, playing a crucial role in assisting clients in receiving their settlement proceeds.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

•    Verify and Process Breakdowns: Review all settlement breakdowns for proper completion and processing. 

•    Process Incoming Settlement Checks: Move checks to the next stage, ensuring proper management and documentation of breakdowns from attorneys. 

•    Mail General Correspondence: Draft general correspondence, scan, send, and log outgoing checks in Excel.

•    Coordinate Endorsements: Ensure checks are properly endorsed and sent to mortgage companies, if applicable.

•    Follow-up on Pending Issues: Track and follow up on pending checks, breakdowns, client inquiries, etc. 

•    Obtain Updates from Mortgage Companies: Contact mortgage companies to verify receipt of checks and update on the status of the release of settlement funds.

•    Provide Updates: Communicate with clients and public adjusters via telephone and email to provide updates on check statuses and the release of settlement fund.

•    Manage Dismissal Reports: Compile and verify dismissal reports, ensuring accuracy in calculations and that all invoices are included.

•    Perform Additional Responsibilities: Handle any other duties as requested or assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
•    Proficient in English and Spanish
•    Strong professional communication, both written and verbal, with clients, public adjusters, mortgage companies, attorneys, and staff

•    Proficient in Outlook, Word, and Excel with a typing speed of 45-60 w.p.m.
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with the judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize workload effectively
•    Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating initiative and good judgment
•    Strong attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
•    Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment; Ability to shift priority and manage change with a positive outcome
•    Strong organizational and time management skills
•    Work efficiently under pressure to meet strict deadlines
•    Ability to handle high-volume calls; Answering and returning calls in a timely manner
•    Prior experience in a law firm or financial processing role is a plus but not required
•    Must Maintain a professional appearance suitable for a law firm environment
•    High school diploma or better, required

Work Hours:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (37.5 hours/week), with a one-hour lunch. This is NOT a remote position.
