Technician - Engine Testing Operations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for executing daily test plans in accordance with customer requirements and ensuring the test results are of the highest quality and accuracy
- Responsible for monitoring the accuracy and quality of all test data generated
- Responsible for the installation of engines into the test cell, installing instrumentation, setting up the test control interface, and maintenance of various measurement devices
- Operate an engine test cell laboratory
- Responsible for maintaining engine and laboratory equipment
- Participate in data quality review and troubleshooting
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Able to work assigned shift, daytime, evening, or weekend shifts
Specific Responsibilities:
- At all times, comply with Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct
- High attention to detail and highly professional appearance
- Install and setup engines
- Execute test plans by following procedures
- Perform initial data quality checks
- Configure test bed operation system for safe and optimal testing
- Participation in laboratory environment and safety management program
- Become proficient at using the test cell automation systems
- Setup data channel configurations and test profiles
- Assist facility and instrumentation engineers to maintain emissions analyzers and ensure plumbing, air supply, and fuel supply are adequate for each test configuration
- Conduct engine maintenance and component changes
- Fabricate and/or modify engine test components as required
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned
Requirements:
- Experience in engine or vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostic troubleshooting
- Skilled use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel
- Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and variable schedule(s) as necessary
- Ability to effectively communicate and articulate ideas, operational & test quality issues to engineers and managers
- High level of integrity, ethics, and drive towards customer service with strong poise, tact, and diplomacy
- Strong orientation towards teamwork
- Strong Verbal & Written Communication skills
- Desire to work in fast paced, rapidly changing and results' oriented environment
- High ability to manage time to prioritize competing tasks and demands being able to successfully resolve them
- Knowledge regarding the operation and maintenance of diesel / gasoline vehicles or engines
- Strong computer skills
- Conduct Engine performance and emissions tests in collaboration with an engineer
- Ability to approach problems in a scientific manner and implement resolutions with minimal guidance
- Able to use motorized equipment to move vehicles and materials.
- Able to bend, squat, lift up to 50 lbs. stand or sit for up to two hours.
- Use basic hand and power tools to maintain engine and laboratory equipment.
- Use a MS Windows based computer including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and custom software.
- Able to read and interpret data to participate in data quality review and troubleshooting activities
