Senior Accountant

Location of Position:

Missouri City, TX

The Position:

The Senior Accountant oversees/performs the daily operations of the accounting department. Their primary duties include monitoring and analyzing accounting data and producing financial reports and statements. The position is responsible for establishing and enforcing proper accounting methods, policies, and principles

Job Responsibilities:

  • Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable

    Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.

    Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.

    Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.

    Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.

    Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.

    Provide input into department’s goal setting process.

    Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.

    Assist with tax audits and tax returns.

    Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.

    Support month-end and year-end close process.

    Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

    Consult with department Management to improve financial procedures.

    Ability to work in fast paced, changing environment with time constraints.

    Creative thinking for managing workflow and creating efficient processes.

    Ability to communicate through effective means to co-workers, and management.

    Able to successfully coach, mentor, and lead others.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    Ability to author reports and business correspondence.

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to prioritize tasks.

In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential.

Construction Accounting (work in process, Percent complete, complete contracts) preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES and EXPERIENCE:

4-year bachelor’s degree, from an Accredited University, in accounting or finance is required.

5+ years’ experience in accounting/finance.

CPA preferred.

Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrella.

Firsthand experience with accounting software packages like QuickBooks, Expensify and or Acumatica is required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

· Working knowledge of accounting and financial principles and procedures.

· Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Excel.

· Critical Thinker

  • Able to balance multiple responsibilities.
