Job DescriptionJob Description

True North K12 Learning is an Education Director for the 2024-2025 Academic Year to direct a K-12 educational program for students who are considered high risk and/or have special needs. The student to teacher ratio is at most 3:2.

This position begins September 2024.

True North students attend from 9:00am to 1:30pm Monday through Friday following the Rensselaer City Schools Academic Calendar.

The rate of pay is $45 per hour, M-F 8am to 2pm each day.

This position is a sub-contractor position and does not include benefits such as health insurance or retirement incentives.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

  • NYS Teaching Certification and/or Administrative experience preferred.
  • Candidates with experience with NYS K-12 curriculum and experience working with high risk and/or special needs children at the Primary and Secondary School Level preferred.
  • Ability to easily build rapport with students and staff and to think creatively.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity on how to read a Student IEP.
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention or De-Escalation training/experience preferred.

The position is perfect for retired teachers; graduate students; teachers looking for School Day hours while caring for their own children at home.
