Job DescriptionJob Description

Seeking construction helper for electrical utility company. As a helper, you will work and train with URD Line Crews, Street Light Technicians, and OH Line Crews. Clean driving record and use and knowledge of hand tools required.

Helper positions are ground level positions for persons of little to no experience. A Helper will be expected to follow direction and instruction accordingly, assist where needed, while learning a basic knowledge which can potentially result in a higher position based on performance.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Hand Digging, ditches/holes using hand tools
  • Assist with Fault Locating
  • Clean equipment, trucks, hand tools.
  • Keep work area clear and clean of debris.
  • Assisting and learning how to properly fill out required paperwork.
  • Assisting and learning how to properly do a vehicle check and verify safety equipment.
  • Must be able to lift, move & maneuver up to 40lbs on a continuous basis and move heavy objects up to 70lbs short distances.
  • Set up or remove barricades, traffic cones, or similar objects to provide traffic control on work sites.
  • Installs, replaces, light bulbs, screws, poles, and associated streetlight equipment, install, adjust, and maintain, streetlight equipment.
  • Install and maintain streetlight luminaires (at heights greater than ten feet) by way of a one, or two-man bucket truck.
  • Learn to operate power-driven machinery such as: jackhammer, tamper, & drills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
