The Project Manager (R&D) is responsible for the project coordination, planning and research required for the identification and introduction of new products and business opportunities. The Consumer Goods Project Manager specializes in creating products that reach the end consumer and they must have a keen sense of market trends and consumer preferences, often working closely with market research teams to inform product design and features. They will navigate the complexity of manufacturing, packaging and supply chain logistics to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to the following:
  • Creates a project structure for stakeholders including timelines, project plans, tasks, team responsibilities and status reporting
  • Oversees review of new product concepts and decision-making process required for new product introduction and roll out
  • Plans and organizes research and development activities
  • Leads research and the implantation of new programs and protocols
  • Oversees the development of new products
  • Improves exiting products
  • Analyzes trends, demand, and target customer needs to anticipate trends
  • Collaborates with marketing department to identify new products and processes to be developed or improved
  • Develops proposals for new or improved products
  • Works with sales to forecast profitability
  • Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures they are on time and within budget
  • Understands customer expectation on co-manufactured products in other co-man facilities
  • Determines and executes improved technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers
  • Supports Director to hire and develop R&D personnel
  • Establishes project goals and priorities by collaborating with Marketing, Operations and Sales.
  • Transfers new technologies, products, and manufacturing processes into and out of the company
  • Researches, designs and evaluates materials, assemblies, processes, and equipment
  • Responsible for collaborating on implementation and modifications to programs with other members of the QA and R&D team
  • Evaluates, develops, and implements standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all sites, as well as overseeing the quality management
  • Great Organizational skills are required. You will be handling multiple tasks at the same time and prioritizing is very important.
  • Works cross-functionally with sales to support customer required documentation and updates within required timeframes

  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance Knowledge and Experience
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Management, Engineering, Industrial Design, Marketing, Project Management, Food Science or related field required
  • 2-4 years experience, preferred in a manufacturing environment or with direct responsibility for product innovation
