Summary Description:

The Manager of Flight Operations Safety & Training is accountable for the safety performance of the flight operations organization. They represent flight operations on the company safety committee and administer voluntary safety programs included, but not limited to ASAP, FOQA, and crewmember safety reporting. They perform internal and external audits, and act as the flight operations liaison during third party audits.

In their training role, they are responsible for ensuring initial and recurrent training is accomplished for part 91 and 135 pilots and cabin attendants, and for ensuring training records are complete and accurate.

Qualifications:

The Manger of Flight Operations Safety & Training must possess a working knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR), Pentastar Aviation FAA approved/accepted manuals, and have practical experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS). They must hold a valid FAA pilot certificate and have prior business aviation and/or airline experience. Prior experience with FOQA data management is desirable.

Requirements:

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Manage safety reports, conduct risk analysis, and develop corrective action strategies in Wyvern QSMS
  • Manage quarterly Wyvern flight leader program quarterly assignments
  • Represent the company during audits from the FAA, ISBAO, Wyvern, and other entities
  • Serve as gatekeeper for the Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program and present de-identified data to executives, customers, and pilots
  • Promote safety during semi-annual crew safety seminars and crew meetings, and assist in the publication of safety newsletters
  • Represent company interests at aviation industry safety conferences
  • Assists with pilot and cabin attendant recruitment efforts
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling all Company and FAA required pilot and cabin attendant training programs
  • Conduct ground training (indoctrination) for new hire crew members
  • Revise ground training curriculum to ensure it remains relevant and satisfies applicable regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate on-site and off-site specialized training with vendors (simulator training, cabin safety training, first aid, CPR, passenger handling, crew resource management, etc.
  • Manage all training center authorizations and FAA approvals (as applicable)
  • Maintain and revise training manuals and standard operation procedures
  • Conduct audits of training vendors and liaise with them regularly regarding initial and recurrent training
  • Assist in developing and training customer service standards
  • Assist the Chief Pilot and the Director of Operations in the development and maintenance of required manuals, crew standard operating procedures and aircraft checklists
  • Monitor regulations and technical publications that affect training in the aviation industry
  • Make recommendations to the Chief Pilot for additional training needs
